A plasma display apparatus and a device for driving the same are provided to prevent the abnormal power consumption by implementing a circuit protector for stopping the operation of the plasma display apparatus when a power recovery circuit is in abnormal. A plasma display apparatus includes plural electrodes, drivers(300,400,500) for supplying source voltages to the electrodes, and a controller(200) for outputting gate signals to the drivers. The drivers include at least one inductor between the electrodes and a power recovery circuit, first and second transistors between the inductor and power recovery circuit, a first source voltage connected to the power recovery circuit and first source voltage, and a first diode between the power recovery circuit and a first source voltage. The controller outputs a gate signal to turn off plural transistors of the drivers according to voltage conditions.
