A valve plate of a hermetic compressor and a valve assembly using the same are provided to apply auxiliary pressure to a neck part of a suction valve by working fluid which is introduced via an auxiliary suction hole, thereby promoting smooth opening/closing operation of the suction valve for the smooth flow of the working fluid. A valve plate of a hermetic compressor includes an auxiliary suction hole(66') formed in the proximity of a main suction hole(66) at a position corresponding to a neck part(56h) of a suction valve(56) which opens or closes the main suction hole. The auxiliary suction hole is formed in an area corresponding to the width of the neck part. The valve plate has a plurality of auxiliary suction holes.
