An angular rate sensor is provided to restrict oscillation of a plane vertical oscillation mode of a tuning-fork oscillator from leaking to a mounting unit and to prevent the vibration of the mounting unit from influencing an oscillation mode of the tuning-fork oscillator. An angular rate sensor is composed of a tuning-fork oscillator(10) having a base portion and plural arm portions stretched from the base portion; a support unit(20) for supporting the base portion of the tuning-fork oscillator on the surface; a vibration preventing unit(40) installed at the back side of the support unit opposite to the surface thereof; and a mounting unit(30) for installing the support unit through the vibration preventing unit. The vibration preventing unit is installed in a second section(R2) including at least a portion of a first section(R1) formed by projecting a section of the surface where the base portion is supported, on the back side.
