BOOTING METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR USING NAND FLASH MEMORY IN A PROCESSING SYSTEM

A method and a device for booting a processing system by a NAND flash memory are provided to boot the processing system by enabling a booting controller to separate/output boot code and control signals, and using a multi-port memory controller for inputting/outputting the separately output signal. A memory controller includes a control port and a data port, accesses the booting code stored in the NAND flash memory according to the control signal received from the control port and boot code information received from the data port, and outputs the accessed data through the data port. The booting controller(200) includes a first boot sequencer master(210) outputting the control signal through the control port connecting to the memory controller and a second boot sequencer master(220) inputting/outputting the boot code information through the data port connecting to the memory controller. The booting controller determines a page size for accessing the NAND flash memory and transfers an address for accessing the NAND flash memory to the memory controller through the data port. An internal memory stores the boot code received from the booting controller and operates the processing system by executing the boot code.
