<p>The invention concerns a method and a system for determining whether the origin of a payment request (10) is a specific e-commerce network source, in particular a website (420) in order to reduce payment account fraud in relation thereto, said method comprising the following steps: storing a fraud check variable (3s); assigning a source check tag (20) in relation to said payment request (10), said source check tag (20) comprising at least said fraud check variable (3a), and verifying that a payment request relating to a source check tag is originating from said specific source by determining whether said assigned fraud check variable (3a) matches said stored fraud check variable (3s). Thus, the payment request source, e.g. website, wherefrom a payment request originates may be identified because the source check tag being provided contains a variable, e.g. a string of integers and/or letters, which changes from payment request to payment request in a manner, which is not apparent to the merchant. This improves the confidence in particular for a transaction responsible entity, such as an acquirer and/or a payment solution provider that a received payment request does in fact originate from a specific website, e.g. an approved website.</p> |
