A touch pad-type remote controller is provided to improve the convenience of usage by selectively using a touch pad as a mouse or a soft touch button through a function selection part. A touch pad-type remote controller comprises a touch pad(210) and a wire/wireless transmitting part. The touch pad(210) is composed of a plurality of capacitive touch sensors(211), a backlight(216), and a touch sensor module(212). The capacitive touch sensors(211) detect the minute capacitance of the human body. The backlight(216), placed under the capacitive touch sensors(211), emits light and projects the light on to the capacitive touch sensors(211). The touch sensor module(212) judges the detection sequence and time of each of the capacitive touch sensors(211), executes signal processing, and creates a control command for a multimedia device. The wire/wireless transmitting part transmits the created control command to the multimedia device.
