An encoding/decoding system and a method thereof are provided to use a function-based algorithm in order to safely protect a system from an attack against releasing encoding. An encoding/decoding system consists of an encoding unit(1) and a decoding unit(2). The encoding unit(1) comprises a transmitting part(10), a user input part(20), an encoding part(30), and an encoding control part(40). The transmitting part(10) transmits designated password information. The encoding part(30) executes encoding according to the input information inputted from the user input part(20). The encoding control part(40) establishes an initial value and a repetitive value for an operation according to the input information inputted through the user input part(20) from an information sender. The encoding control part(40) controls the encoding part(30) so as to create password information according to a plurality of preset functions created through the four arithmetic operations of a plurality of variables, based on the initial value, the repetitive value, the coefficients contained in the functions, and a header created by the deformation of either the initial value or the repetitive value. The encoding control part(40) transmits the created password information to an information receiver through the transmitting part(10).
