A hinge-type cover opening/closing apparatus in a portable terminal is provided to reduce the rotation speed of a cover and regularly maintain the rotation speed by connecting a pair of hinge shafts through gears which engage with each other. A hinge-type cover opening/closing apparatus(100) in a portable terminal comprises the first hinge shaft(110), the second hinge shaft(120), a pair of armatures(140), a rectilinear motion cam, an outer casing(180), and a pair of elastic members. One end of the first hinge shaft(110) is assembled with the main body of the portable terminal. The second hinge shaft(120), installed at a certain interval from the first hinge shaft(110), is assembled with the cover of the portable terminal. The armatures(140) are installed so as to rotate the first and second hinge shafts(110,120) together. At one end of each of the armatures(140), a rotary cam is formed in a single unit. The rectilinear motion cam is assembled so as to make a rectilinear motion along the length of the first and second hinge shafts(110,120). The outer casing(180) encloses and supports the rectilinear motion cam so that the rectilinear motion cam make a rectilinear motion. The other ends of the first and second hinge shafts(110,120), penetrating the outer casing(180), are joined with a clamping ring. The elastic members, installed at a certain interval in the inside of the outer casing(180), always apply force to the rectilinear motion cam so as to stick the rectilinear motion cam fast to the rotary cams.
