A wheeled luggage case comprises a luggage receptacle having a major wall of the receptacle adapted to serve as a wall that faces the ground during a wheeled mode of travel of the luggage case, a plurality of wheels 57 at one end of the bottom wall, a retractable steering wheel 58 assembly 68 located on the bottom wall at a location spaced from the plurality of wheels, the steering wheel assembly being moveable between an active position at which the steering wheel assembly extends below the bottom wall of the luggage receptacle and an inactive position at which the steering wheel assembly is retracted and a handle 67 located at one end of the luggage receptacle for steering, pushing and/or pulling purposes. The handle may serve to move the retractable steering wheel assembly between the active and inactive positions and the case may be adapted to be pushed with the steering assembly leading, as specified in claim 1 and those appending thereto. The handle may be flexibly attached to the case with the case being supported such that it is at an angle to the ground. |
