A method of bonding thermo-adhesive sheetmaterial comprises superposing the portions of sheet material adjacent a support, heating a sealing member by means of an electric current, interrupting the current, applying the heated sealing member to the portions of sheet material so as to compress the portions between the sealing member and the support, retracting the sealing member and recommencing the current flow to reheat the sealing member prior to a further bonding operation. As shown, two sheets 3, 4 of metallic foil, precoated with a thermoplastic adhesive, and wrapping an object 1 are arranged to lie adjacent an insulating support 5. A sealing member 6 is mounted on an insulating block 7 which in turn is carried by an arm 8 capable of a reciprocatory motion so a to bring the member 6 into contact with the sheet material and effecting the sealing operation. |
