A dental instrument for endodontic applications comprising an elongated shaft having a proximal end (12) and a reduced diameter distal end (16) and a tapered working portion (14) extending from the proximal to the distal end, the working portion having at least one helicoidal cutting / scraping edge (38), the taper of the shaft working portion being defined by an initial relatively large radius of concavity at the distal end (16) and of continually reduced radius of concavity terminating in a final relatively small radius of concavity at the proximal end (12). In one embodiment the radii of concavity varies with substantial elliptical conformity. |
