A DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) receiving apparatus and a method therefor are provided to connect a data dedicated decoder unit with a host unit and control a multimedia dedicated decoder unit through the data dedicated decoder unit to compose an optimized system. A data dedicated decoder unit(200) receives the first control signal for processing data contents from an interworking host, decodes the data contents, and outputs the decoded data contents through a host unit(100). The data dedicated decoder unit(200) generates the second control signal for processing multimedia contents and transmits the generated second control signal. A multimedia dedicated decoder unit(300) decodes the multimedia contents according to the generated second control signal of the data dedicated decoder unit(200) and outputs the decoded multimedia contents through the host unit(100). |
