A torque converter for a vehicle is provided to improve endurance of the vehicle by preventing a spring assembly from being broken by arranging a stopper on a drive plate. An impeller is integrated with a front cover. A turbine is arranged to be opposed to the impeller. A reactor is arranged between the impeller and the turbine and changes an oil flow from the turbine to the impeller. A lock up clutch directly couples the front cover with the turbine. A torsional damper includes springs, a driven plate(41), a retaining plate(43), a drive plate(45), and a spring assembly(47). The driven plate is coupled with the turbine. The retaining plate is coupled with the driven plate. The drive plate is arranged between the driven plate and the retaining plate and includes a stopper for restricting a rotational movement. The spring assembly is arranged between the drive plate and the driven or retaining plate, and absorbs an impact applied in a circumferential direction.
