A flat display device and a method for inspecting the same are provided to detect line defects of a display panel accurately and shorten the time for detecting the line defects, by using exclusive-OR gates connected to data lines or gate lines. A plurality of data lines(DL) and a plurality of gate lines(GL) cross each other in a display area(10). A first detection part(52) is connected to at least two data lines to detect a line defect of the two data lines. A second detection part(42) is connected to at least two gate lines to detect a line defect of the two gate lines. The first detection part includes a plurality of exclusive-OR gates connected to at least two neighboring data lines.
