A method for inputting numerals in a sliding-type portable terminal is provided to enable a user to input numerals without sliding the slide part of a portable terminal up for reducing the inconvenience of pushing the slide part up whenever to make a call. If a specific key is inputted when the slide part of a portable terminal is down(300), a control part releases button locking(310) and activates function key execution mode(320). Then the control part judges whether the specific key has been inputted during more than an appointed time(330). If so, the control part transfers to number key input mode(340). Then, if the input of a key on the first key input part is detected, the control part judges whether the inputted key is a navigation key(350). If so, the control part judges how many navigation keys have been inputted(360). In case only one navigation key has been inputted, the control part displays a numeral equivalent to the navigation key(361). However, if it is judged that more than two navigation keys have been inputted at the same time(370), the control part displays a numeral corresponding to the inputted navigation keys(371). |
