The drive unit has a fluid-operated drive (2) with a working chamber (8) accommodating a linearly adjustable drive piston (14). A position regulator (3), which is a component part of a regulating cartridge (28), is provided for the positioning of the drive piston and has an electronic regulator (26) and a valve unit (27). The regulating cartridge as a sub-assembly is fitted from the side axially opposite the working chamber through an installation opening into a space (25) defined by a one piece extension of the drive housing (4) axially adjoining the drive chamber.
