A vertical-vibration type exercise apparatus is provided, which comprises an optical position sensor which is never worn mechanically and manufactured at a low cost. A vertical-vibration type exercise apparatus with a position sensor includes: a vibration plate(10); a driving member, vibrating the vibration plate; a position sensor(20), detecting position information of the vibration plate; and a controller, applying a driving current to the driving member according to the position information of the vibration plate. The position sensor includes: a light emitter(12), irradiating a light onto the vibration plate; and a light receiver(14), measuring a light quantity reflected by the vibration plate, so as to detect the position information of the vibration plate according to the reflected light quantity.
