APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SCHEDULING DATA IN A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A data scheduling apparatus and a method in a communication system are provided to improve the overall performance of a communication system by performing scheduling in consideration of a radio channel environment as well as an allowable transmission delay time. A scheduler checks whether there is any real time packet data at a scheduling point(311). If so, the scheduler groups the real time packet data according to an allowable transmission delay time(315) and determines the number of real time packet data to be scheduled to be transmitted in a corresponding frame by groups(317). The scheduler performs scheduling by determining each priority level of the real time packet data determined by groups of the allowable transmission time(319). The scheduler determines a transmission priority of non-real time packet data and schedules the non-real time packet data according to the determined transmission priority level(321). The scheduler schedules other data except the real time packet data, which have been already scheduled, of each allowable transmission delay time groups(323).
