An apparatus for driving a plasma display panel is provided to control on/off states of a switch by connecting the switch to an output terminal for receiving a sustain signal. A source capacitor is formed to charge a voltage collected from a panel. A resonant circuit is formed by using an inductor and a capacitance of the panel. The voltage charged in the source capacitor is supplied to the panel by turning on a first switch(S1). The voltage charged in the panel is collected by turning on a second switch(S2). The second switch is connected to an output terminal of a driving unit. A second diode(D2) is connected between one end of the source capacitor and one end of the second switch. A control unit controls the second switch in order to turn on/off the second switch. An output terminal of the control unit is directly connected to a control signal input terminal of the second switch.
