A method and an apparatus for storing broadcasting data are provided to remove the inconvenience of a user for individually checking and deleting corresponding programs to empty a storage space. Information about a broadcasting program to be updated and stored is input from a user and stored(S100). A broadcast program is received, and the information about the broadcast program is extracted from the broadcast program(S110,S120). The extracted information is compared with the information input from the user(S130). It is determined if a previously stored broadcast program having the same category exists if the received broadcast program is set by the user for auto update as the comparison result(S140,S150). If the previously stored broadcast program having the same category exists, it is determined if a deletion condition of the stored broadcast program is satisfied(S160). The previously stored broadcast program is deleted, and the received broadcast program is stored if the deletion condition is satisfied(S180,S170,S190).
