An apparatus and a method for inspecting an LCD are provided to select glass without an inspection by reading and storing the number of defects of each glass and then performing selective testing from the glass with more defects. A host(100) controls every device. A device control system(200) controls each device upon receiving control signal from the host. A loader(300) loads glass to be tested upon receiving a control signal from the device control system. An auxiliary storage(400) records and filters defect file information of each glass and sends information of the glass to be tested to the device control system. An inspection unit(500) receives and inspects the glass loaded from the loader. A database system(600) receives a request for information of the loaded glass from the inspection unit and sends the glass information.
