SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING POSITION INFORMATION USING MINI MAP

A system and a method for providing position information by using a mini-map are provided to recognize positions and the motion of players more easily through the mini-map of a screen. A server(200) detects the entire image of a ground and position information of players and a ball photographed by a camera unit(210), and transmits the detected image and position information. A mobile communication terminal(300) displays the image transmitted from the server(200), and displays the position information of the players and the ball as a mini-map. The server(200) includes a position detecting unit(240) and a wireless transmission unit(250). The position detecting unit(240) detects the position information according to the motion of the players and the ball by using an absolute position display method for displaying real coordinates of the players and the ball from the entire length of the ground photographed by the camera unit(210) or a relative position display method for indicating positions of the players and the ball at a relative rate. The wireless transmission unit(250) transmits the position information to the mobile communication terminal(300).
