A mobile terminal and a method for displaying an idle screen according to an analysis result for a user's behavior are provided to increase the convenience of users by predicting a user's life pattern on the basis of usage history information for his mobile terminal and actively coping with it. A control part in a mobile terminal confirms the present location of the mobile terminal and the present time respectively through a location information creation part and a time counter(S310). Then the control part checks a previously created idle screen table and confirms whether idle screen display information equivalent to the present location and time exists in the idle screen table(S320). If corresponding idle screen display information exists(S330), the control part displays a corresponding idle screen when an idle screen display command is inputted(S340).
