A zoom lens system is provided to secure zoom ratio over 2.8 times and optical performance proper to high-pixel with keeping the micro size. A zoom lens system(100) is composed of a first lens group(G1) having the negative refracting force; a second lens group(G2) close to an image surface(I) more than the first lens group and having the positive refracting force; and a third lens group(G3) close to the image surface more than the second lens group and having the negative refracting force. The distance between the first and second lens groups and distance between the first and third lens groups are reduced together as the zoom lens system is zoomed from a telephoto end to a wide angle end.
