A MESH NETWORKING AUTO CONFIGURATION METHOD, VIRTUAL LINK SETTING METHOD, PACKET TRANSMISSION METHOD AND TERMINAL FOR ITS IN MULTI HOP WIRELESS LAN

A mesh networking automatic setup method in a multi-hop wireless LAN(Local Area Network), a virtual link setup method, a packet transmission method, and a wireless terminal thereof are provided to solve mobility and connectivity limitation problems of an existing infrastructure-based single hop wireless LAN through a mesh network for linking an ad hoc network with an infrastructure network. A new wireless terminal selects a random IP(Internet Protocol) address among IP addresses used in a mesh network(302). The new wireless terminal generates an IP automatic setup message, and transmits the generated message to neighboring wireless terminals(303). The wireless terminals compare an IP field value of the message with self IP addresses(304). A mesh router confirms whether the IP field value of the message collides with a self IP address or the IP addresses of the wireless terminals operating in passive mesh mode(305). If one of the wireless terminals uses the same IP address as the IP field value, an IP collision message is generated and transmitted to the neighboring wireless terminals.
