PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of problems such as the oxidation of a mold and the adherence of glass which are triggered by a gas generated in a mold cavity. SOLUTION: The mold for molding an optical element is equipped with a plurality of gas discharge holes 15 on the side wall of a body mold 11 shaped in a cylindrical hollow pipe penetrating from the outer periphery surface toward a mold cavity 14, a fluting 19 formed on the inside wall of the above body mold 11 communicating with the plurality of gas discharge holes 15 in the vertical direction and a groove 20 to be communicating with the fluting 19 in the vertical direction at the upper and lower surfaces of the body mold 11 from the inside wall to the outside wall.
