PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device capable of determining a fall by a simple structure, and its program. SOLUTION: When through image display is started (S1), edge detection processing and processing for storing a transition locus of detected edge positions are started on the basis of sequentially picked up image data (S2). When a zooming operation is performed, a zoom lens 2a is moved according to the zoom operation (S3 and S4). Whether the digital camera 1 has fallen is determined (S5). In this determination, when the stored transition locus of the edge almost coincides with one certain piece of falling locus data among a plurality of pieces of falling locus data corresponding to the present projection state of a photographing lens 2 which is recorded in advance, it is determined that the digital camera 1 has fallen.
