PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate fitting of a slider to a control shaft in a variable valve system including an input arm and an output arm meshed with the slider. SOLUTION: The input arm 7 and the output arm 8 of an arm assembly 6 are meshed with the slider 11. The slider 11 is connected to the control shaft 14 by a connecting member 15. The connecting member 15 includes a pin 16 and a bush 17. A fitting groove 19 to which the bush 17 is fitted is formed on the inside circumference of the slider 11. A support hole 20 and a recessed part 21 are provided on the control shaft 14. The pin 16 is supported in the support hole 20 to be movable in a direction orthogonal to the axis of the shaft 14, and the bush 17 is locked by the recessed part 21.
