PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor capable of attaching/detaching a step only in one machine room of either an upper machine room or a lower machine room. SOLUTION: The passenger conveyor is provided with a plurality of steps 3 connected to a step chain 2, circulated/traveled between upper and lower doorways and having a front wheel 6 guided by a front wheel rail 4A and a rear wheel 7 guided by a rear wheel rail 4B; and a U-shaped rear wheel reverse rail 8 installed in the upper machine room and the lower machine room and restricting a position of the rear wheel 7 of the step 3. A first notch 10A and a second notch 11A for enabling attachment/detachment of the rear wheel 7 of the step 3 are formed on the rear wheel reverse rail 8 installed in the lower machine room, and plate 10 and plate 11 capable of opening/closing the first notch 10A and the second notch 11A are provided.
