The strut has a pipe (1), that is fastenable to a spring-mounted or unsprung part of a vehicle and limits an air chamber, in which a spring and a piston are arranged. An outer cover (2) closely rests against an external surface of the pipe, where the outer cover consists of an open-porous aluminum foam and completely surrounds the pipe. A case (3) closely rests against an external surface of the outer cover, and an air inlet opening (4) is assigned to an air filter (6).
