An image display apparatus is provided to protect an image display panel from being damaged due to external shocks by arranging plural buffer layers between the image display panel and an image filter. An image display panel(100) displays an image. An image filter(110) is arranged on the entire surface of the image display panel. A first buffer layer(120) and a second buffer layer(130) are arranged between the image display panel and the image filter and made of different materials. The image filter includes a base layer, an electromagnetic wave shielding layer, and a near infrared ray blocking layer. The electromagnetic wave shielding layer is formed on the base layer. The near infrared ray blocking layer is formed on the base layer. One of the first and second buffer layers is made of a material identical to that of the base layer.
