A combination lock comprises a locking mechanism and plural devices for embodying a preset combination of the lock. The lock comprises an indication of a baseline position that is correlated to the preset combination by a preset master combination. The lock may be a multiple dial lock including reset dials (16) rotatable around a lock shaft (18), each reset dial (16) being at a specific angular position for a user to unlock the lock or reset the combination. Each reset dial (16) has a magnet (46). A master key (48) may include sensors (50), each in communication with one signal (52). Each of the signals (52) indicates to a user that a respective magnet (46) is adjacent a respective sensor (50), thus assisting a user in recovering a lost combination. In another embodiment, the lock may be a rotary lock (60) including a dial (62) which rotates a drive cam (68), which in turn rotates several wheels (66) to their unlocking positions. |
