<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film for improving luminance of a display device using a light source thereby improving efficiency of utilizing optical energy. <P>SOLUTION: The optical film 1 comprises a stretched film 1. The stretched film 1 has a continuous phase 1a and a dispersion phase 1b dispersed in the continuous phase 1a. The dispersion phase 1b is dispersed with its axial direction aligned to a specified direction (x direction) in the continuous phase 1a. The dispersion phase 1b contains at least particles having a refractive index higher than the refractive index of the continuous phase 1a in a direction (y direction) perpendicular to the stretching direction (x direction) and particles having a refractive index lower than the refractive index of the continuous phase 1a in the direction (y direction) perpendicular to the stretching direction (x direction); and the refractive index of the dispersion phase 1b as a whole is set to match the refractive index of the continuous phase 1a in the direction (y direction) perpendicular to the stretching direction (x direction).
