PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering angle detector which eliminates the need for storing the absolute steering angle and neutral position of a steering shaft, when the ignition switch is pulled out. SOLUTION: The steering angle detector comprises a first resolver sensor for outputting n times periodic waveform signals, when a steering handle is rotated from a left steering limit position -θmax to the right steering limit position +θmax, a second resolver sensor for outputting the periodic waveform signals (n+1) times, and a third resolver sensor for outputting the periodic waveform signals (n+2) times. On the basis of the relative angle differenceθcb between a relative angleθc, obtained by the third resolver sensor and a relative angleθb obtained by the second resolver sensor and the relative angle differenceθca between a relative angleθc obtained by the third resolver sensor and a relative angleθa obtained by the first resolver sensor, the absolute steering angleθand the neutral position are calculated.
