PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcasting receiver capable of controlling to adopt an optimal screen display size according to a video image resolution of a changed hierarchy transmission system, when the hierarchy transmission system is changed according to a reception state, in order to achieve a display easy to view and improve reception performance. SOLUTION: The digital broadcasting receiver comprises a demodulator 13 and a decoder 14. The demodulator 13 monitors reception state, performs switching between a stationary reception hierarchy transmission system and a partial reception hierarchy transmission system, and demodulates a hierarchal broadcast-wave signal by segment assignment. When the demodulator 13 changes the hierarchy transmission system; the decoder 14 selects an optimized screen display size based on a video image resolution according to the changed hierarchy transmission system, and outputs a video signal according to the screen display size.
