PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device and a method which do not disturb execution of other functions when facsimile communication is performed through an IP network. SOLUTION: A control unit 11 controls a network control unit 13 connected to the IP network, and a control unit 21 controls a network control unit 22 connected to the IP network when communication is performed through the IP network using T.30.
