PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum foil for electrolytic capacitor electrode capable of obtaining an electrostatic capacity having many start points of pits, and excellent in dispersion properties and in surface expansion rate in electrolytic etching processing. SOLUTION: Center line average roughness (Ra) measured perpendicularly to rolling satisfies Ra<0.5μm, a ratio (P/O) of phosphor detection intensity and oxygen detection intensity on a material surface measured by X-ray fluorescence emission spectral analysis satisfies 1.5≤P/O≤3.0, breakdown potential of a barrier property coated film measured by a Hunter-Hall method is 1.0 to 3.0 V, number distribution of crystalline oxides is 1.0×10<SP>8</SP>to 5.0×10<SP>8</SP>pieces/cm<SP>2</SP>, and dispersion coefficient (σ) of the crystalline oxides represented by the formula when the crystalline oxide number existent in the region of 1μm<SP>2</SP>is assumed to be x satisfiesσ<1.8.
