PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum breaker which generates an electromagnetic force by utilizing effectively electric current flowing in a vacuum switch tube, enabling down-sizing of a wipe device and an operating mechanism. SOLUTION: The vacuum breaker is provided with a vacuum switch tube 11 which houses a fixed side contact 1 and a movable side contact 3 that contacts and is separated from the fixed side contact 1, a wipe device 15 which is installed between the vacuum switch tube 11 and an operating mechanism SA that operates contact and separation operation of the movable side contact 3 and gives a depressing force to the movable side contact 3 in the direction of the fixed side contact 1, a movable side conductor 16 of which one end 16a is connected to a movable side electrode rod 4 at the outside of the vacuum switch tube 11 and is drawn out to the contact and separation direction of the movable side contact 3 orthogonally, and an extraction conductor 19 which is arranged at a fixed portion consisting of a frame FR on the vacuum switch tube 11 side in parallel with the movable side conductor 16 and of which one end 19b is connected to the outside circuit.
