PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shift the gear position of a transmission to a prescribed gear position when a shift lever is moved by an impact force. SOLUTION: This shift lever device 10 is so formed that, if an axial impact force is applied to the shift lever 22 when the shift lever 22 is disposed in a shift position "N", namely, the transmission is shifted to the gear position "N", the shift lever 22 is moved to an arrow E direction along with a cable 56. Then, a cable bracket 32 moves in the arrow E direction along with the shift lever 22 and a cable tube 52 to prevent the relative movement of the cable 56 to the cable tube 52. This constitution can thus retain the transmission in the gear position "N" (the gear position before the shift lever 22 is moved by the impact force G). COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
