PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which the sequence of the nucleic acid can clearly be detected in good repeatability, and to provide a reagent therefor. SOLUTION: This method for detecting the nucleic acid comprises denaturing a double strand nucleic acid into a single strand nucleic acid, hybridizing a portion of the single strand nucleic acid with at least one complementary oligonucleotide probe (D) for detection, elongating the single strand nucleic acid as a template to form the complex (P) of the single strand nucleic acid with the elongation product of the oligonucleotide probe (D), and detecting the presence of the complex (P).
