PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foothold for maintenance of a planting device with which maintenance of a planting device installed on a sloping roof or the like can be safely and easily performed. SOLUTION: The planting device for plants is designed so as to be installed on a rooftop, a roof or the like of a building, and comprises a soil layer, a water drainage/supply base keeping and draining rainwater infiltrated from above or water poured by other means to supply the kept water to the root parts of the plants and hold the soil layer, and a maintenance foothold attached thereto.
