The invention relates to a valve for buckets suspended from helicopters. The invention is used to control the release of fire-extinguishing products transported in buckets. The assembly consists of a body (1) which is fixed to the bucket with screws (8) and fitted in a leak-tight manner using a gasket (9). The moving parts comprise two gates (2 and 4) which rotate about a pin (5) with the aid of hinges (6) which, when actuated using cables (13 and 14), close against the body (1) by means of the gasket (10), thereby establishing a seal. Since the surface of the base of the bucket is larger than that of the valves, as weight is added the helibucket moves downward until the elastic limit of the cables is reached, thereby forcing the body of the valve against the gates to produce a seal.
