<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter having a large rated current by enhancing the resistance to short-time overload of a switching element without incurring increase in cost or size and preventing breakdown of the element. <P>SOLUTION: The power converter includes the power switching element 100 and a cooling portion 200 for cooling the power switching element 100 in contact with its envelope. The cooling portion 200 includes: a thermal conduction portion for transferring heat produced in the switching element by conduction; a heat accumulating medium that is in contact with the thermal conduction portion and accumulates heat transferred by the thermal conduction portion; and a heat radiating means that is in contact with the thermal conduction portion and radiates heat accumulated in the heat accumulating medium. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
