<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate precise positional adjustment (alignment) of each optical component when a plurality of optical components (optical waveguide elements) are assembled to make an optical module. <P>SOLUTION: The optical module is designed to have an optical waveguide substrate 1 having two element mounting orifices 7, 8 and to have two optical waveguide elements 9, 10 mounted on each of the two element mounting orifices 7, 8.
