<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automate steps for registering printing devices, to provide identifying information to a client machine, and to maintain an accurate state of available printing device in a network. <P>SOLUTION: A method is provided for automatically registering a printing device executed by a computer. The method includes steps of: receiving notification data indicating that the printing device is available for print data processing from the printing device through a communication network; generating and transmitting to the printing device a request for attribute data in response to reception of the notification data from the printing device; receiving, from the printing device, attribute data that includes one or more attribute values for one or more attributes of the printing device; and registering, based upon the attribute data, the printing device in response to reception of the attribute data from the printing device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
