PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine capable of selecting control for taking most preference of low fuel consumption of the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This control device 10 of the internal combustion engine has a catalyst collecting means 13 collecting nitrogen oxides from the inside of exhaust gas exhausted from a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine 1 by a catalyst 13a, a reduction processing means 14 performing reduction processing of the nitrogen oxides by injecting fuel into the nitrogen oxides collected to the catalyst 13a by the catalyst collecting means 13, and a driving control means 19 controlling driving of the internal combustion engine 1. The control device 10 also controls the driving of the internal combustion engine 1 so that heat efficiency of the internal combustion engine 1 becomes a high area, and has a fuel consumption preferential mode of increasing a frequency of the reduction processing by the reduction processing means 14.
