PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute excellent smear correction even for a moving subject image without deteriorating an image resolution. SOLUTION: In a smear charge detecting method of a wide dynamic range solid-state imaging apparatus in which high-sensitivity pixels and low-sensitivity pixels are mutually arranged and formed in a two-dimensionally array, thinning is not executed for the high-sensitivity pixels but executed for the low-sensitivity pixels to detect smear charges. Since the image resolution depends on the number of high-sensitivity pixels, the image resolution is not deteriorated and the smear correction can be excellently executed even for the moving subject image.
