<p>The invention provides a woven fabric for air bags which has two properti es essential to the woven fabric for air bags, namely, low air permeability and high compactness in storage and which is excellent in edgecomb resistanc e and is therefore reduced in the slippage of meshes in a seamed section of an air bag as observed when the air bag is inflated and stops a driver or th e like; air bags made of the fabric; and a process for the production of the fabric. A woven fabric for air bags wherein the warp and the weft are made of the same kind of synthetic fiber yarn, characterized by satisfying the fo llowing requirements: (1) the total finenessof the synthetic fiber yarn is 1 00 to 700dtex, (2) Nf/Nw >= 1.10 (wherein Nw is warp density of the fabri c(number of thread per 2.54cm) and Nf is weft density of the fabric (number of thread per 2.54cm)), (3) EC1 >= 400N, EC2 >= 400N (wherein EC1 is e dgecomb resistance (N) in the warp direction according to ASTM D6479-02; and EC2 is edgecomb resistance (N) in the weft direction according to ASTM D647 9-02), (4) 0.85 <= EC2/EC1 <= 1.15, and (5) the air permeability is 1. 0L/cm2 min or below as determined by the Frazier method of JIS L 1096 with a differential pressure of 19.6kPa.</p> |
