The clip machine has closing tools moved relative to each other between an open position and closed position, to close clips. An adjusting unit sets the neutral position of closing tool and provides a closure gap between the closing tools in closed position. A measuring device (128) measures closing force applied when closing clip or parameter proportional to closing force and outputs a measured value representing the closing force or parameter. An independent claim is included for clip machine adjustment method.
