<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device capable of quickly putting the air-fuel ratio of exhaust gas flowing in a downstream catalyst in a stoichiometric or lean state in response to a change in an operation state of an internal combustion engine, capable of surely restraining generation of H<SB>2</SB>S, and capable of preventing functional reduction in an upstream catalyst in restarting by sufficiently preventing sulfur poisoning of the upstream catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device is characterized by having an exhaust gas pipe 2 connected to the internal combustion engine 1, the upstream catalyst 3 arranged on the upstream side of an exhaust gas passage in the exhaust gas pipe 2, the downstream catalyst 4 arranged on the downstream side of the exhaust gas passage in the exhaust gas pipe 2 and carrying nickel and/or iron, and an oxidizing gas supply means 5 connected between the upstream catalyst 3 and the downstream catalyst 4 of the exhaust gas pipe 2 and supplying oxidizing gas in the exhaust gas pipe 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
